Martin County Quilters is a quilt guild dedicated to the education and growth
of the art of quilting. Established in 2006 by Dori Hawks with a handfull of
quilters, we’ve grown to a membership of over one hundred. Our members
have a vast range of abilities from beginner quilters to quilters who have
won "Best of Show" at major quilt shows. Some members play with
traditional methods while others use artistic techniques.
At each second Thursday of the month meeting, we have a national or local
guest speaker or educational program of some kind. Some of the national
teachers we’ve had in the past have been Laura Wasilowski, Ellen Lindner,
Sharon Schambers, Mary Sorenson, and Marianne Williamson. We always
have "Sew & Tell," a few raffles, an annual retreat, a holiday party, and we
support at least two of our local charities per year. Some of the charities
include the House of Refuge, Pink Ties Friends, Hibiscus Center for Children,
Molly’s House and Council on Aging. But most of all, we love to have fun!
